Tune into the Serajey Summer Camp Podcast — where young voices explore timeless teachings, fun experiences, and inspiring stories from camp life.
Sera Jey Summer School 2025 offers a comprehensive multi-activity experience tailored for Tibetan children and teenagers aged 8-17. Our mission for the year 2025 is to establish a nurturing educational environment that empowers Tibetan children residing abroad to participate in the Sera Jey International Summer Camp. Here, they will have the opportunity to delve into Tibetan language, culture, history, and the fundamental principles of Buddhism and Meditation, all under the guidance of certified Meditation Masters.
Participants will be accommodated at the Tashi Choeling Center, with a maximum occupancy of two participants per room. Each room has its own attached bathroom that is equipped with western-style toilets (aka sit-down toilets) This arrangement is designed to facilitate the enhancement of spoken Tibetan language skills among the students.
As the monsoon season will be in full swing during this period, parents are advised to include complete rain gear (raincoats/umbrella, boots) in their packing list. Electronic gadgets, except for a simple cell phone to be deposited with the staff, should be avoided.
Make sure to inform your doctor/pharmacy of your travel plans so you can get enough of any prescription medication to last through your stay. Minor medical cases will be managed by the Sera Jhe health care center. However, major medication and referral costs will be the responsibility of the parents.
Parents must submit an authorization letter for their child/children to participate in weekends and outings. Additionally, copies of travel documents, travel itinerary, and medical insurance (if applicable) are required. Passports must be surrendered upon arrival and will be returned at the end of the Summer School.
Parents facing difficulties in reaching the Summer School can contact us for guidance. The Summer School Coordinator will assist in arranging necessary arrangements, with expenses to be borne by parents.
Students are requested to bring appropriate attire for the program. We observe "Lhakar" (White Wednesday) every Wednesday, hence participants are encouraged to bring at least one set of traditional dresses (Chuba).
We will make every effort to equip your rooms with mosquito-prevention necessities, but it is also advised that you consistently apply mosquito repellent on your skin. This may be brought with you.
In addition to the structured educational program, participants will also enjoy cultural trips and excursions, providing them with an immersive experience in Tibetan culture and traditions.
The overwhelming positive response from participants underscores the success of our program. The children's genuine affection for the camp is a testament to the enriching experiences and lasting memories created during their time with us.
Participation in the Sera Jey Summer School 2025 program is entirely free for all participants, as costs, including travel, accommodation, food, and program activities, are covered by the Sera Jey Central Administration. However, there is a non-refundable admission form fee of $100.
While the majority of expenses are covered by the Sera Jey Central Administration, there are a few items for which parents are responsible:
Summer Camp Admission Fees: There is a nonrefundable admission form fee of $100 per participant.
Travel Expenses: All costs associated with travel from participants' homes to Bangalore Airport and back home are to be covered by parents.
