For Foreign Nationals

Individuals who are not citizens of India, Nepal, or Bhutan, or Tibetan residents without a valid Registration Certificate (RC), must obtain:

• Indian Tourist Visa
• Protected Area Permit (PAP)

A PAP is required for visiting Tibetan settlements in India, including Sera Jey Monastery. It can be obtained by applying online at https://papvt.mha.gov.in/.

Important Notes:

• Validity: Up to one year
• Renewal: Can be reapplied annually
• Processing Time: 2-3 months (apply in advance)
• Cost: Free of charge
• Multi-Location Access: Include Bylakuppe, Hunsur, and Mundgod in your application if required.
